Summer is here

Please note that we will soon be breaking for the summer. LOur last rehearsal will be Wednesday 6th July 2022. We will return on either 31st August 2022 or 7th September 2022. Please visit this site later for up to date information

Back At Last

Finally, we can announce the return of TLC Voices. After nearly two years we can now return to full rehearsals here at the centre. Following the latest government announcement, the management team at The Laura Centre has given us the thumbs up to ‘restart’ the choir. Our first rehearsal will be on Wednesday, February 9th starting at 6.30 until 8.00.

Why not give it a try:
Singing is good for the body as well as the soul so why not give it a try. For the first few Wednesdays, we will be offering taster sessions which will give you the opportunity to come along and have a go without committing to anything long term. All you need do is just turn up. We provide all music etc. This is a community choir so there are no auditions you just turn up and sing. So we have an idea of number it would be useful if you can call Tony on 07813 536315.

Parking? Not a problem as we have our own car park at the rear of the centre which is also where you enter the building. If you like it and want to stay it will only cost you £3 per week (this is to cover the cost of the pianist and the music). Finally, you don’t have to be a past or present client of the centre – everyine is welcome.

Further delays on rehearsals

Having only just started back before Christmas, the new Covid situation has put us back again. Because of the volatile situation with Covid it has been decided that we cannot start rehearsals in January as expected. For safety reasons the TLC management has decided that they cannot risk having lots of people together in a small room and therefore rehearsals are currently suspended.

Covid delays start of rehearsals

Please note that rehearsals are only suspended. It is still our intention that TLC Voices will continue and we hope to start again in February although we cannot yet confirm this.

When we do start back we are hoping that, after spending so much time not socialising, you will be keen to join us for a fun evening of singing. For up-to-date information keep visiting this site or complete the contact form and we will contact you when things return to some sort of normality.

Thankyou

We Are Back

We are pleased to announce that rehearsals will be starting again on Wednesday 29th September at the usual time of 6.30pm here at The Laura Centre. It has been a long time coming but at last, we can start excercising our lungs again. We even have our first booking on November 28th at The Laura Centre ‘At Home’ event.

If you are interested in joining us give Tony a call on 07813 536315 just so we have an idea of numbers. The first couple of weeks are free just to see if you enjoy it with the cost being just £3 per week after that. All music is provided with rehearsal tracks usually being available on download.

Latest Situation re COVID

With the latest announcement from the government we will not have time to start again before the summer break. With this in mind it has been decided that choir rehearsals will not start again until September/October. An exact start date will be announced later.

Thank you to all the members and prospective members for their patience. See you later.

Coronavirus Update (Jan 2021)

Sad to say that we are still in the same position as when we last posted. Although we can now look forward to a vaccine we are still a long way from being able to restart the choir. Current choir members can keep up to date via the WhatsApp group. For prospective members, we can only recommend that you monitor this site. If you would like to join when we do restart you can register your interest via our contact page.

Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this terrible virus and our thanks go to all NHS, front line and key workers.

Stay safe.

CORONA VIRUS UPDATE

Due to the current situation regarding the Coronavirus it is, with regret, that we are postponing choir rehearsals until further notice. Existing choir member will be updated via the WhatsApp group. Others should monitor this page where will post updates as and when we get them.

This is a sad situation for all and our good wishes go out toa ll affected by this terrible situation.

New Season starting

In full voice

We will be starting our new season on Wednesday 15th January 2020. We rehearse every Wednesday (well, most Wednesdays) here at The Laura Centre, 4-6 Tower Street, Leicester LE1 6WS from 6.30pm ’til 8.00pm and we are always on the lookout for new members. The first couple of weeks are free (just to see if you like it) and then it is just £3 per week (payable for the term). As we are a community choir all are welcome and there are no auditions. You just turn up and sing. Singing is good for you physically, mentally and socially so what are you waiting for. Come along and give it a try.

New Season dates

This year TLC Voices will be returning a little earlier than usual. The first rehearsal will be on August 21st at the usual time of 6.30 here at Tower Street. This will be followed by a second rehearsal on the 28th but there will then be a gap of one week (4 Sept). Rehearsals will then recommence on Sept 11th.

New members are more than welcome and we have some nice ‘gigs’ planned. We will be singing at 2 or 3 care homes as well as a Christmas Tree Festival, The Laura Centre At Hom,e event and the sunrise walk in September.

#If you are interested you can either just turn up or give me a call first on 07813 536315.

backing tracks and other music

Hi folks. Sorry but I could not record the parts yesterday as something cropped up so we will do it at the Wednesday rehearsal. Apart from continuing to learn the new ones we will also be looking at the back-catalogue and refreshing some of them. Can you make sure you bring your music for the following:
Down to the river top pray
Time after time
Stand by me
Fix You
You ar not alone
Sound of music
We won’t be doing all of these tomorrow night but please have them with you. I will sort out copies for those of you that have not done these before. See you all tomorrow.

Tony
